Here are some of the basic Ballroom Technique points that we teach
Closed Dance Hold
The lady is positioned slightly to the right of the man, so that the right foot of the man or lady can step between their partner’s feet. Good contact is maintained.
Posture
The man can adjust his posture by standing with his back against a wall and continue with this alignment when dancing.
Head
Generally, the man looks ahead slightly to the left over the lady’s right shoulder, she looks upwards to the left over the man’s right shoulder
Frame & Connection
The man and lady maintain a good frame and connection without letting the arms collapse.
Timing
Dancing in time to the music, depending on the style of dance. The man’s lead slightly precedes the lady’s movement, she should not step before the man’s lead.
Movement
Step forward or back with a smooth, gliding stepping action
